The camaraderie between the Army and Navy that transcends the annual collegiate football rivalry was on display this weekend as Army players sported “JJ” stickers on their helmets in support of a unique cause close to the hearts of the Navy team.

The “JJ” stickers with red hearts affixed to the Army helmets were for Jarren Jasper, the 14-year-old son of Naval Academy offensive coordinator Ivin Jasper who is anxiously waiting for a heart transplant.

Jarren had complications after an August medical procedure that was intended to fix his fast heart rhythm, according to “Fox & Friends.” Now, he is attached to a battery-powered device while he waits for a heart transplant.

Jarren Jasper couldn’t attend the game in person this year, but he did have his own message for the midshipmen, who ended up losing to the Golden Knights, 14-13. Beating Navy for two years in a row now, Army clinched the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy for the first time since ‘96.
