The Navy this week named Rear Adm. Michael E. Boyle as the next Navy head in Korea.
Boyle will lead Navy Region Korea, U.S. Naval Forces Korea and Naval Component, U.S. Forces Korea, as contention between the United States and Pyongyang continues, according to a Pentagon announcement.
He comes from a stint as director of international engagement with the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, an assignment he began in July.
The Virginia native was designated a naval aviator in 1990.
Boyle’s prior command assignments include Strike Fighter Squadron 81 and Carrier Air Wing 5.
