Two people have died after their civilian-owned vintage plane crashed only moments after taking off Wednesday afternoon from Naval Air Station Kingsville.

The yellow and green T-6 Texan, carrying the pilot and one passenger, was departing the Texas base after the two crew had been visiting an NAS Kingsville employee, Kevin Clarke, a spokesman for the base told the Corpus Christi Caller Times.

Clarke confirmed that no Navy personnel were involved in the crash and that there was no reported damage to base equipment or runways.

The identities of the victims have not yet been released, pending next-of-kin notification.

NAS Kingsville hosts about 1,700 personnel.
