A flight suit worn by Tom Cruise during the filming of “Top Gun” will take its place among 600 pieces of movie memorabilia up for sale next month in a London auction, according to multiple media reports.
Collectors and super-fans interested in the gear donned by Lt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell during his journeys into and around the danger zone likely will need to cough up between $26,000 and $39,000 to win the bidding at the Prop Store’s live auction, set for Sept. 26.
That’s the same expected sale range as Mjolnir, the hammer wielded by Chris Hemsworth in the first “Thor” movie. Larger-ticket items include a C-3PO head and Darth Vader helmet, a bullwhip used by Harrison Ford in ”Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade,” and a helmet worn by Chris Pratt in ”Guardians of the Galaxy.”
Cruise will reprise his ”Maverick” role in a ”Top Gun” sequel set for 2019, but it’s unclear whether he’ll be back in a flight suit.
