3:02 p.m.: Four military members have been killed in a shooting rampage at two military facilities in Chattanooga, said Mayor Andy Berke at a Thursday news conference. The attacker "brutally and brazenly attacked members of our armed forces," said Chattanooga Chief of Police Fred Fletcher.

"We are treating this as an act of domestic terrorism," said U.S. Attorney Bill Killian, adding that the FBI was taking over the investigation.

The Associated Press reported that four Marines were killed and a soldier was wounded.

The police officer was shot while in pursuit near a Navy Reserve center. Eyewitnesses told local media that the as yet unidentified shooter fired bursts of gunfire from a semi-automatic rifle. Authorities say the shooter attacked two military installations in the Chattanooga area.

The city shut down during the hunt for the shooter, with the campus of Chattanooga State University going into lockdown and a no-fly zone imposed over the city.
