The commanding officer of the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Sicily was fired Monday, becoming the 18th commanding officer relieved in 2015.

Cyber Command boss Vice Adm. Jan Tighe, head of U.S. 10th Fleet, relieved Cmdr. Regina Cox for "loss of confidence in her ability to command after a command investigation into improper civilian hiring practices," a Tuesday release from 10th Fleet said.

Cox was reassigned to Naval Information Dominance Forces, Suffolk, VirginiaVa.

NCTS Sicily Eexecutive Oofficer, Cmdr. Robert Matthias, has temporarily taken command.

Cox enlisted in the Navy in 1985, and was commissioned as a limited duty officer in 1996. She has served aon board the amphibious assault ship Nassau and the carrier Harry S. Truman, as well as on a shore tour deployed with United States Forces — Iraq.

She was most recently the executive officer of Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station, Pacific, in Hawaii.
