The record for most pull-ups in 24 hours is 7,306. From April 28 to 29, a Navy veteran and future Navy Sailor will be attempting to break that record, said Pull-up Bars for Patriots.
Pull-up Bars for Patriots will be hosting "Breaking Records to Raise the Bars," where Nick Janowitz, owner of Patriot Sports and Fitness, and Jeremy Miller, a Patriot trainer, will encourage physical fitness in the community and attempt to raise funds to purchase pull-up bar memorials for fallen service members.
"I'm doing this to honor and show my gratitude to those who have died for our country," said Miller. "It's mind blowing to me how many kids my age take advantage of the freedoms they have without taking into consideration the sacrifices that were made so they can have that freedom. Hearing stories of what these fallen men and women have done for us makes doing 24 hours of pull-ups seem a little bit easier."
The event will be held in downtown Elmhurst outside in the City Centre Plaza (147 N. York St.) starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 28.
There will be a secondary pull-up bar on hand for guests to participate and support Janowitz and Miller. Visits from a DJ, the National Guard and local fire department will also be included.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit the Pull-up Bars for Patriots website.
