NORFOLK, Va. — The Navy says one of its guided-missile destroyers is preparing to deploy from Virginia.
The USS Jason Dunham is scheduled to leave Naval Station Norfolk on Tuesday.
The Navy says the ship will be going on a six-month, independent deployment to the U.S. Sixth Fleet area of responsibility. That area includes the waters around Europe and parts of Africa.
The ship was commissioned in 2010 and completed her maiden deployment in 2013.
