A sailor is in critical condition after being struck by a spinning UH-IY Venom tail rotor blade.
The incident occurred at roughly 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Marine Corps Air Station, Camp Pendleton while the aircraft was still on the deck, according to a command press release issued Friday.
The sailor, who was not identified, was assigned to 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing was transported to a local hospital.
Details of the incident were published by a command press release nearly two days after the incident.
An investigation is currently underway.
