NORFOLK, Va. — The USS Laboon has returned to Virginia following a six-month deployment.

The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer sailed into Naval Station Norfolk on Friday.

The Laboon was on an independent deployment to the Navy's Sixth Fleet area of responsibility, which includes waters around Europe and Africa.

The Laboon logged more than 42,000 nautical miles and visited five ports in five countries. More than 200 sailors volunteered for local charities and organizations during the deployment.
