MERIDIAN, Miss. — An aircraft has crashed at Naval Air Station Meridian while undergoing a training flight.
Public Affairs Officer Penny Randall says a T-45 jet aircraft assigned to Training Air Wing One crashed Wednesday at about 1:15 p.m.
Randall says the student and instructor pilot were able to safely eject near the airfield on the Navy base in a heavily wooded area.
Randall says both pilots were transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Metro Ambulance Director Clayton Cobler told The Clarion-Ledger one of the pilots had neck pain and the other leg pain. He described their injuries as "not life-threatening."
Navy officials say they're not certain yet what caused the crash, but that it is under investigation.
