A sailor recently assigned to the aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan died suddenly on Monday, the carrier's skipper, Capt. Michael Donnelly said Tuesday on the ship's Facebook page.
Seaman Danyelle Luckey, a personnel specialist in the carrier's admin department, "passed away suddenly onboard," Donnelly said.
"Her loss comes as a tragic shock to her shipmates. For the crew, our thoughts and prayers are focused on her family during this time," Donnelly said.
Luckey had recently joined the crew during its port call in Guam, her first duty assignment after basic training and military occupational school. The Carrier Strike Group Five is on patrol in the East China Sea supporting security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
