The wait is nearly over for more than 20,000 first class petty officers as Navy officials confirmed yesterday that this year’s chief selectees will be announced publicly on Friday following today’s command notifications.

“Results of the FY18 active, FTS and Reserve E-7 boards will be posted to commands’ BUPERS Online (BOL) accounts Thursday, Aug. 3, at 11 a.m,” the release from the chief of naval personnel said. “Two NAVADMINs, with names of those selected for advancement to Chief Petty Officer, will be released Friday, Aug. 4, at approximately 8 a.m.”

The active duty 2018 chief petty officer selection board convened June 26, evaluating 18,500 eligible first class petty officers for this year’s nearly 4,400 available quotas, good for a 24 percent advancement rate.

The reserve and full-time support board convened May 22, considering about 2,700 drilling and 1,000 full-time support E-6s for nearly 600 available quotas between both communities.

Check back with Navy Times Friday morning to see the published lists.
