The fast attack submarine Missouri is making its way to its new home at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, this week, according to Submarine Force Pacific officials.
The Virginia-class boat is coming to Hawaii as part of the effort to replace older Los Angeles-class submarines, and will be stationed with Submarine Squadron 1, according to officials.
It will be the sixth boat of its class to be home-ported at Pearl Harbor, according to SUBPAC.
Families of the 140 crew members have been moving to the island in recent months from the sub’s former home in Groton, Connecticut.
The Pacific submarine force includes fast attack, ballistic missile, auxiliary submarines, tenders, floating docks, deep vehicles and submarine rescue vessels.
