NORFOLK, Va. — A sailor from a Norfolk Naval Station-based helicopter squadron was killed in a flight line mishap Monday.
The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. while the sailor was working as a maintainer at the helicopter squadron, Naval Air Forces Atlantic said in a press release.
The cause of the incident is under investigation, the release said.
The Navy did not identify which helicopter squadron the sailor belonged to, nor the sailor’s name, but said those details would be released 24 hours after the sailor’s family is notified, as required by Department of Defense policy.
