A Navy chief and his wife died earlier this month after their Jeep was rear-ended on the Florida Turnpike and went into a canal, according to the Florida Highway Patrol and Navy records.
Chief Navy Counselor Fabian L. Dosen, 49, was driving with his wife, Marija Dosen, on the turnpike near Fort Pierce just after 9 a.m. on Jan. 7 when they were struck from behind by a Honda Civic driven by a 24-year-old Florida woman, according to the highway patrol.
Both died at the scene and the crash remains under investigation, according to officials.

The Dosens lived in Lantana, Florida, according to the highway patrol.
He had been assigned to Navy Recruiting District Jacksonville, Florida, since March of last year. He previously had served at the Miami, Michigan and Chicago recruiting districts, among other commands, according to his service record.
The Indiana native enlisted in 1995 and pinned on chief in 2014.
